Intro to Moving Water for Sea/Rec Kayakers

This clinic is an introduction to the techniques, maneuvers and considerations required for paddling in current on the river, which are a step up from flat water skills. The goal is to familiarize you with moving water dressed in the same paddling gear that you'll be wearing on a river.

Outline

The session covers:

  • Equipment fitting,
  • River features,
  • Eddy in & eddy outs,
  • Ferries,
  • Safety considerations.

Equipment

Club boats and equipment are available free of charge. Please make arrangements with the Equipment Manager well before the session.

You will need to transport the paddling equipment to and from the site.

You'll need to provide your own personal gear: thermal layers, paddling jacket, gloves & booties and protective footwear. If you have any questions about these items, contact the instructor.
