This weekend course is designed as the logical extension to the kayak pool basics course and introduction to moving water clinic. Participants will solidify their skills and maneuvers in rapids on a class I+ river so that they can paddle on more challenging club trips.
Saturday starts with a refresher session on technique in an easy eddy. Students will learn to adjust to a swift current and master eddy turns and ferries. The afternoon will be spent on a short river run and some self rescue basic skills. Post supper discussion will cover river safety, features for kayaking and how to paddle in a group on the river. On Sunday there is a 14 Km down river paddle ending at the campground.
