- The purpose of the paddling classes is to increase confidence and to provide club members with the skills needed to participate in day, weekend and multi-day trips. If you are not sure of your ability, discuss it with the course coordinator before signing up. All club training classes have limited capacity.
- Courses may be canceled if there are not enough students, and additional course may be scheduled based on demand.

You may need to arrange transportation for boats to and from the training site.

NWV 2023 Training Program
The Northwest Voyageurs are pleased to announce that the club will be offering several kayak training classes this coming June. Courses for both new paddlers that want to get a solid foundation and those with some experience that want to improve their skills will be available.
Courses available for 2023 are below.
Intro to Kayaking Clinic
- 4 hours, 6 students per session
- Cost: $30 for members

Beginner Kayak Safety and Rescue Clinic
- 4 hours, 6 students per session
- Cost: $30 for members

Beginner/Intermediate Kayak Safety and Rescue Clinic
- 3-1/2 hours, 6 students per session
- Cost: $30 for members

- New for 2023. Want to learn more than just the basic strokes? We will be working on several different ruddering strokes, some exciting turning strokes, an almost magical side slip plus whatever else we have time for.
- 4 hours, 8 students per session
- Cost: $30 for members

The fine print:
Registration is limited to 2023 Northwest Voyageurs Canoe and Kayak Club members. Registration is first come, first serve however we will have a wait list if required. We will not be collecting payment at this time. We will send a follow up note to the registrants with payment details in May.
Courses go rain or shine. It will be June so we could have rain, cool temperatures or intense heat. We will cancel or reschedule only if it is snowing, wind or wave conditions above the course level or active thunder and lightning at the course location. If the club or instructor has to cancel a session, we will issue a full refund. If you cancel for any reason more than 4 days prior for part-day and single day courses or 7 days prior for multi-day courses prior to the course start date , you will receive a full refund less a $10 administrative fee. There is no refund if you cancel for any reason within 4 days of the course start date for part-day and single day courses or within 7 days prior to multi-day courses.
